Kennedi has been with the Citadel for a long time. First, she attended the youth clubs where she found the support she needed to deal with all things school and life.

Displaying a lot of risk-taking behaviours in the past, Kennedi got our team’s full support to help her stay out of trouble and on the right path. She faced a lot of struggles in her homelife, and she didn’t always cope in the healthiest way. And school life wasn’t any easier, with dyslexia often making reading and writing difficult. 

With us however, things were done at her own pace, and her needs were taken into account. And she slowly but surely started to make her own way.

Kennedi is a very motivated and determined young person who wants to make the best life possible for herself, despite the many bumps in the road. And she’s willing to work to make it happen. Which is why she was very keen to join our employability service, knowing she can trust us to help her out in a way that works for her. When Kennedi enrolled into the Citadel’s employability project, our team made it their mission to offer her the structure and motivation she needed to confidently pursue further education and employment. As she had taken part mostly in our youth clubs before, we felt it was important to show her the difference between the open, relaxed nature of youth clubs and the focused effort necessary for successful employability. She was great in the programme, taking part in a lot of training opportunities and skills groups. 

After a lot of exploration, and with all our support, Kennedi found her passion lies in childcare. 

No surprise then that she’s doing an apprenticeship in childcare as we speak!

Kennedi got to where she’s going with the right support from our Citadel team. 

And we’re really excited to see where she’ll grow to next!
